The New Hampshire Championships George Dirth Memorial Regatta is the largest New England rowing event north of Boston and is hosted by Amoskeag Rowing Club at Memorial Park in Pembroke, NH. The regatta is a 3-mile head race that starts upriver and finishes at the park. The NHCR attracts over 2,000 athletes rowing nearly 400 sculling and sweep boats.

ARC is dedicated to making sure that the NHCR is a superb regatta. The beautiful river, ample parking, smooth efficient operation and friendly staff are just some of the reasons why this regatta really stands out.

In MEMORY of GEORGE DIRTH

This year we are honoring George Powers Dirth.  George rowed at Derryfield, Amoskeag Rowing Club and Oregon State University. George’s accomplishments include first place in the Men’s Junior 4+ at the NH Championship Regatta. At OSU he rowed varsity for 3 years, stroked junior and senior years, and co-captained senior year. He later coached at Colorado Junior College.  He tragically perished at the age of 27 in an avalanche while snowboarding in Colorado. In his memory George’s friends have chosen to be the major sponsor for our regatta. They have established 2 cups in his name: Men’s and Women’s Junior 4+.

Dirth was known for his signature wit, his extensive four-season outdoor activities, his computer science prowess, his love of friends and family, and his extensive network of friends from across the country, as well as his exceptional goodwill toward said friends.
